Thanks to Bob for his great report on what is happening in SF—after reading his initial post on the protests yesterday I told people here what was happening and it caused a great ripple of hope and excitement across campus. The news may not be telling us what we need to know, but we've got the blogs! And even though south bend’s protest yesterday afternoon was pretty tame (stopping at the lights to cross the streets as opposed to taking over the streets), knowing that such great stuff was going on in sf really helped to animate us. Then, from Chicago, more good news: people shut down lake shore drive (one of the major roads in chicago) and are gathering again today. We’re heading to Chicago to join them tomorrow. On the terrible side, though: it seems like the full-scale bombing of Baghdad has begun. |
