Okay, M has given us a dream that seems great for interpretation. I'm gonna enlist the help of Dream Iris who says in response to another spider-dreamer that "A spider is a symbol of many meanings. Your dream could be about the good fortune you have been blessed with recently, or it could be about the many small annoyances in your life lately." Now Iris doesn't say anything about contact lenses, but the Dream dictionary says that "if glasses are the focal point in the dream, several interpretations could be made. You may need to do a 'reality check' or ask yourself if you are seeing the world through 'rose colored glasses.' Either way, your unconscious mind may be encouraging you to make an attempt to see things more clearly."

So here's my take, given those symbols. M is ambivalent about the move. On the one hand, it is a great place, a real find--Tom the new landlord bringing the good fortune spiders to life; on the other hand moving is a pain in the neck-- an accumulation of many small annoyances, especially when put in the context of so many moves that she's had to make in Seattle. Also, is Tom himself going to be a blessing or the source of small annoyances like her last landlord?

Putting the spiders in her eyes like contacts suggests that her unconscious mind wants her to see the move more clearly, to resolve her ambivalence, but since the spiders are ambivalent symbols this is tough. She is trying to put them in her eyes but they are also repulsive to her. Also even if the spiders--the move-- is a good thing, she can't really settle too much into it (successfully put the spider in her eye) because given the realities of the itinerate academic lifestyle, moving again is probably in her not-too-distant future.

Other takes??
